Lattice1 Firmware v0.18.3 Released
GirdPlus Lattice1 hardware wallet firmware v0.18.3 is now available! The two firmware updates released this month (v0.18.2 and v0.18.3) include several improvements to Solana signing, security improvements, small bug fixes, and user feature requests.
The Update Process
Updating is as easy as tapping System Preferences then Software Update. If you don’t do this manually, your Lattice1 will check for updates every six hours and then automatically prompt you to approve an update once you unlock. However, if you dismiss the prompt you will not be reminded again until a newer release is available and should be sure to manually update when convenient.
Then all you need to do is kick back and watch the progress bar for a minute or two. Your device will reboot and you’ll be back in action with an upgraded Lattice1.
How can we safely update your secure hardware over the air like this? Every release is signed with GridPlus’ private keys so your device can verify the provenance of the release. Your Lattice1 cannot install firmware that isn’t signed with these keys.
Concerns still keeping you up at night? You can always use the verification feature to ensure the integrity of your device with a cryptographic proof. (And you could earn a POAP NFT and other goodies for giving it a try!)
And remember, despite this functionality, your Lattice1’s secure enclave has a smaller attack surface than USB and Bluetooth wallets because your HSM is never exposed to the outside world or other devices.
New Feature: Check Your Solana Addresses
Our users have long requested support for Solana and we’re excited to be on the verge of delivering a first class hardware security experience for that chain. Your Lattice1 has included Solana signing support under the hood for some time and we are now waiting for our integration partners to ship updates with their Lattice1 integrations.
They’ve provided lots of feedback during this process and we’ve been continuing to refine Solana signing according to their suggestions.
You can now browse your Lattice1’s Solana addresses for multiple derivation paths directly on the device and we’re very excited for our community’s Solana fans to try out signing for themselves soon!
For developers working to add Lattice1 support to your software wallets, be sure to update to SDK version 2.6.0 and to reach out to our team for help and additional resources.
Additional Key Features in V0.18.2 and v0.18.3
The newest release includes many small changes designed to broaden compatibility improve and our community’s daily signing experience.
Here are a few of the key improvements you’ll notice in the new release:
- The maximum allowed EIP712 name length was increased to cover an edge case in which users could not sign to log into the Hyperliquid perpetuals exchange.
- The maximum length for a user’s BIP39 passphrase was increased from 100 to 200 characters to accommodate a Lattice1 power user who takes key generation entropy *very seriously*.
- Firmware and bootloader security enhancements.
- Minor bug fixes and UI improvements.
